Who are the teachers?

Stevie Jamieson hot yoga instructor

Stevie Jamieson
began practicing yoga in 2000,  at the Sivananda Yoga Centre in London. After finally deciding to leave his desk behind and share his love of yoga, he trained as a power yoga teacher, studying advanced techniques and styles from Ashtanga, Power Vinyasa and  Forrest Yoga.

Stevie began HOT YOGA PECKHAM classes in 2014, teaching regularly at several prominent yoga studios and gyms in South East London.  In February 2018 he opened STUDIO 54, a dedicated Hot Yoga Studio in Peckham Rye and the home of HOT YOGA PECKHAM!

Emma Horsfield focuses on engaging different muscles to relieve tension, to leave everyone feeling super energised and less stressed.

What is HOT YOGA?

HOT YOGA is a style of power yoga that flows from one posture to the next in rhythm with the breath.  It's a full body workout so be prepared to sweat!  The studio is heated to 28ºC to allow deeper stretches and lessen the chance of injury. Each class is different and it's important to point out that this is not Bikram (which is typically one sequence repeated twice at 40ºC.)

About the studio and before a class
Studio 54 is a purpose built Hot Yoga Studio equipped with energy efficient infrared heaters, a small changing room / shower room and WC. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the class starts as the main entrance is closed during class and latecomers may be disappointed. A full class is around 20 students. Yoga mats are available although students are encouraged to bring their own mat if possible.  We practice barefoot, please leave your shoes at the door where there is space for other belongings (please note belongings are left at your own risk). Water is also available, and the odd cup of herbal tea naturally!

How do I get the most out of my practice?
First of all, relax and breathe deep. Connect your conscious mind to your breath to quieten those thoughts during your practice. Work within your own capabilities. Don't compete with anyone else in the room (or yourself)! You'll certainly notice benefits with a weekly practice. If you want this to really have a positive effect on your strength and flexibility, improved balance and peace of mind then I'd recommend you practice at least two or three times a week. A more regular practice of four to six times a week will have more profound effects boosting metabolism, strengthening your immune system preventing illness, whilst feeling a deeper connection to yourself and those around you, even finding more joy and fulfilment within.  If there's something you particularly feel you need then just come and talk to me about it.

Can I practice with injuries?
It is the student’s responsibility to inform the teacher of any medical conditions, injuries or pregnancy before the start of any session. If you are new to physical exercise it is advisable that you consult a doctor or physician before attending.

How do I book a class?
To guarantee a space please book a class online and make payment in advance. It's possible to drop-in where space allows, on a first come first served basis. Payment for all classes must be received prior to the scheduled class date to ensure your place. Cancellations prior to 24 hours will receive a credit towards a future class based on availability and similar cost. Cancellations within 24 hours will not be refunded.

'I always say to people coming to yoga for the first time, all you really need is a big heart and a big smile - just enjoy it! I'm a firm believer that yoga can help everyone, regardless of age, shape or ability and I strive to make my classes informal and friendly, where everyone feels comfortable to practice at their own level.  My favourite quote at the moment is 'don't practice yoga to get better at yoga; practice yoga to get better at living.' That pretty much sums it up for me!'
